Alcan Packaging gives something back to local group & charities |

On Thursday 7th February Alcan Packaging Cumbria held a small cash award ceremony at the Hunday Manor House Hotel, Winscales. Alcan Packaging Cumbria has recently expanded its existing local charity focus and agreed that a total of £2500 would be awarded to local groups and charities of employee’s choice when the company’s EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) targets were achieved. |
| Therefore upon achieving great success of these targets employees were asked to nominate their preferred local groups or charities, the EHS committee then voted on the top 5 groups to be awarded a cheque for £500 each. Mark Suitor, Managing Director of Alcan Packaging Cumbria presented the cheques to the successful groups and charities; who were: |
| Princess Street Day Centre; a day centre for people who suffer from Alzheimer’s and Dementia, nominated by Brian Johnson. |
| Seaton Respect Youth Club; run by Alcan Packaging’s Paul Hodgson, which provides a secure place for youths to meet and join in projects, nominated by David Reid. |
|
Workington Sea Cadets; provides a range of activities for young people aged 12 to 18 aiming to provide good citizenship and provides qualifications such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and life skills, nominated by Peter Sacre.

| Seaton Carers & Toddlers; a weekly parent and baby / toddler playgroup organised and run by local volunteers, nominated by David Humes. |
| Open Gates Family Centre; a charity run centre providing educational and recreational opportunities for young children from 2 – 4 years in the greater Egremont area, nominated by Gerry McKendry. |

Mark Suitor commended all of the hard work and support that the groups and charities give to the local area and added that they were all extremely worthy causes. The groups expressed sincere gratitude to Alcan Packaging and all its employees who nominated and voted for them. |
